The results are in! The winner of this year’s Audience Choice vote is… drumroll… The French Connection (1971), William Friedkin’s classic New York cop thriller starring Gene Hackman (The Conversation, The Royal Tenenbaums) and Roy Scheider (Jaws, All That Jazz).
From the man who brought us The Exorcist (1973) and more recently Killer Joe (2011), The French Connection follows Jimmy ‘Popeye’ Doyle and Buddy ‘Cloudy’ Russo, a pair of hard-nosed Brooklyn detectives who stumble upon a transatlantic drug operation and set about bringing the elusive Frog One (Fernando Rey) to justice.
