YOU THINK DARKNESS IS YOUR ALLY?

Ramblog: First Blog Part II

Behold the second most ridiculous voice in the Dark Knight franchise. I like to talk into my water bottle and pretend I’m Bane.

BANE:

Or perhaps he’s wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of a plane.

GUY:

At least you can talk. Who are you?

BANE:

It doesn’t matter who we are. What matters is our plan. No one cared who I was until I put on the mast.

GUY:

If I pulled that off will you die?

BANE:

It would be extremely painful…

GUY:

You’re a big guy.

BANE:

… for you.

GUY:

Was getting caught part of your plan?

BANE:

Of course!

I love Thomas Hardy’s portrayal of Bane and his magically loud voice. He’s such a ridiculous character but has such a great physicality to his role.

Do you feel in charge?

Bane is almost comically melodramatic. I’d like to note that…

Star Wars

More Eyes More Perspective

After the recent nipple tingling release of the Star Wars VII trailer I was thinking about Star Wars a little too much, and if you haven’t seen the trailer, here it is:

after watching this a million times I was stuck on the question of what makes Star Wars the significant franchise it is? What is so appealing about Star Wars to so many people? Lets just get this out of the way. There are many people who don’t like Star Wars and to those people I say, I’m sorry. Now, on to the topic at hand, I’ve always been fascinated with Star Wars and why it interests millions of people. I first saw Star Wars in high school, for some reason I just hadn’t watched them any younger as a kid. So I came in late and caught the storm of Star Wars way after it had passed through society. I…

The Avengers: Age of Ultron Review

CuzWeSmart

As a huge Marvel fan (disclaimer: I never got the chance to read the comics so my knowledge is exclusively movie based) The Avengers: Age of Ultron has been highly anticipated over the past few months. After teaser trailers, fan theories, and even some marvel wikia reading, my expectations were high. Little spoiler, it did not disappoint.

Before getting into the actual plot of the movie, I should point out how three-dimensional each individual character is. Firstly, Black Widow, or Natasha Romanoff. Her appearances in the past have been strictly professional, presenting her as this cold and unattached spy. Her fighting techniques something to gawk at and her deceiving abilities far too good for anyone to take notice. Yet in this instalment, there’s a much more in-depth view of the former russian spy. On the other hand, there’s the relationship between the Maximoff twins. Individually, they’re extremely interesting characters, but…

Reluctant Roundabout Review of a Possibly Perfect Album: The Trouble with Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam

Two Pals with Thoughts

miloHey Pal:

Well I find myself in a bit of a pickle: I’m falling back in love with the music of Cat Stevens, or should I say the artist formerly known as Cat Stevens who, since 1977, has gone by his reborn Muslim name Yusuf Islam.

And therein, more or less, lies the source of the problem.

More on that in a minute.

First, I need to put forward a new title in our Perfect Album series, and I must do so through a slightly meandering story (have faith, it all comes together eventually)…

Part I: In which a young Milo Pal discovers a magical film

As a high schooler in the late 80s I sat down one night to watch the cult classic film Harold and Maude, and it blew my mind.

You know those films, Pal, the ones that showed you early on that film is an art form that can do more than entertain; that…
