Zoinks! Jinkies! And whatever other Scooby-Doo catchphrase pings your nostalgia censors.
Scooby-Doo will be returning to the big screen in 2018, Warner Bros. announced on Monday. And while the previous two Scooby-Doo movies mixed live action with a CGI Scooby, this reboot will be entirely animated.
Ben Silverman, Warner Bros. president of creative development, said that the film may lead the way to a big-screen revival for other Hanna-Barbera cartoons.
“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters,” Silverman said in a statement. “As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”
The new movie will be directed by Tony Cervone, who served as animation director for Space Jam and has produced several of the more recent incarnations of the Hanna-Barbera classic. The…
