I’m on a music documentary binge, sorry!
Jimi Hendrix: Hear My Train A Comin’ documents the influential guitarists’ life and career, up until his death at age 27. Through unseen concert footage and interviews with the man himself, family, friends, and Sir Paul McCartney, this is a riveting documentary that every guitarist and/or Hendrix fan needs to see. For a guy who didn’t take a guitar lesson or know how to read music, Hendrix was so talented and took the electric guitar to places that it’s never been before.
One scene that stands out is The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s American debut at the Monterey Pop Festival. What Hendrix does on stage is the stuff of legend, and nobody else has done that. You have to watch it to see what it is. Hendrix was a showman, playing the guitar with his teeth and behind his head…he was incredible!
